All in a Day’s work

I love my job; actually, I really, really love my job! Getting to meet wonderful people and capture images that they will hopefully treasure for many years is very rewarding. On a recent Newborn photo session I got to spend the afternoon with the absolutely gorgeous Miss E & having always loved babies, I could just cuddle one all day and often did with my own three, to be handed someone else’s newborn and be trusted while I photograph them is a tremendous honour for me. It is important to develop a bond with the baby and be guided by them. An example of this was that Miss E was not a fan of being on her tummy so I just let her settle where she wanted and only did very slight adjustments, she responded well to this and we got some lovely images of her as a result. Here is one of me hard at work on the day. Yep like I said, I LOVE my job.

One of the major benefits Peaches & Cream offer is the fact that we are a team, I get to cuddle, play & bond with the baby while Brian sets up. We both get behind the Lens and have different ideas and styles so this adds different dimensions to our shoots, We also come to your home for newborn sessions which makes for a very relaxed session as you can put your feet up and have a cuppa while we work our magic.

Fun in the sun – Sydney family photography

We had the pleasure of meeting this lovely family for a sunny morning photo session at the beach. Miss T who knows how she likes things took a leading role so we went with it and  just had fun with lots of action shots and plenty of laughs along the way.

Here are a couple of those images.

Magic Moments! – Sydney Child Photography

When photographing on location, many elements can be out of your control and photographing young children on location is always challenging but sometimes the best photos can often be the ones you never intended to take, those magic moments of kids just being kids. Miss R occasionally gets to accompany us on location and although it can be a challenge it can also be a great distraction for children on the shoot as she brings that extra element of fun which helps them relax and to enjoy the time.

Here are a couple of these that we just had to share from a recent shoot at the beach,

Thanks,

Sandy & Brian

About Brian – Sydney Portrait Photographer

Brian Nicholson

I have worked as a freelance photographer on creative & commercial projects over the last 8 years and have had a passion for all things photographic from an early age. With strong photo-journalistic abilities covering live performances and everyday life plus a love of architectural photography I have developed my abilities to cover many aspects within the photographic field. Since the birth of my daughter in 2009 I have found a new love within photography, that of Portrait photography which I enjoy immensely. My partner Sandy has been a wonderful inspiration in this transformation and her ability to interact with children has been instrumental for me in capturing natural portraits.

Together we are:

And we love what we do.

Parasol in the park – Sydney Child Photographer

Miss R just loves umbrellas and we have to keep them out of sight as she will get quite upset if she is not allowed to have one. We decided to let her have a parasol and indulge her umbrella fixation on a sunny day, combined with a new lens and a new location to try out, it was park outing time. Here are a couple of snaps from the day that capture her pride & smugness at getting to play with her Parasol at the park! I find letting a child have a favourite item in a photo can really help to put them at ease and often with Miss R it is the only way she wants photos done as she is becoming increasingly bored when mum or dad pull out the camera. To be fair the poor child is thrust in front of the lens on a regular basis and we certainly have a large collection of lovely images of her.

About Sandy – Sydney Family Photographer

Born and raised in New Zealand, I grew up surrounded by rugged natural beauty. We spent alot of time driving to the many stunning beaches along changing coastlines, passing lush native forests and vibrant green farmlands. I was always one for quietly watching the world pass by, framed within the car window. I didn’t get the opportunity to pick up a camera till later in life but I always saw scenes framed and frozen in time and wanted to be able to capture what I was seeing, I feel this has fuelled my love of Photography and having worked with babies and children much of my life I have a natural affinity with them so it is only fitting that this is where my passion lies. I am still fascinated by children and capturing the secret moments of magic and wonder in the way they see this world is my greatest joy. I have three beautiful children of my own now, each has taught me so much about photographing children over the years and I am sure will continue to do so.

I will never forget the moment I developed my very first roll of film, watching that image appear like magic on the paper was addictive and exciting. Although I have a passion for B&W film photography digital technology has many advantages and I intend to utilise them. I love truly natural, candid portrait photography and I will not ask you to smile, but I may make you laugh and let your guard down inviting myself into your life for a brief moment to capture a lasting memory for you.
